PATRICK E. TOTTENHAM

1974 - 2022

In December of 2022, we lost a great songwriter and beloved friend, Patrick Tottenham. His mom, Renie, was kind enough to let me go through his many tapes, photos and papers, which I have scanned and transferred in the interest of preservation.

I produced a zine in his memory (available here) which collects many of those artifacts and remembrances from friends.

Not everything would fit in the printed zine, so I also made this page to showcase this treasure trove of original, handwritten lyric sheets and photos, as well as links to the great music Patrick made with his various projects.

PATRICK’S BLOG

Patrick wrote a number of journal entries on The Fleece’s very rudimentary website in 2000-2001. These posts discuss not only The Fleece’s recordings and live shows, but also Patrick’s interests at the time. Here you’ll also find a history of The Fleece written by Patrick in that period.

MORE WRITING

Here are some pieces Patrick wrote and published on Medium.com in 2017.

MUSIC

I am working on adding as much of Patrick’s music as I can to this bandcamp page. I’m drawing from many different sources (Patrick had several Bandcamp accounts, and I have many cassettes to digitize). There is much more to come once I have transferred more of his cassette releases and demos. The Fleece was the project that Patrick released the most music under, beginning in 1995 and continuing on in different forms through 2003 or so. The band went through several incarnations, from its beginnings as a four-track lo-fi indie bedroom pop solo project to a noisy baroque quintet, to a stripped down rock trio.
